- Assess patient for the presence of fever (temperature > 38°C) or hypothermia (temperature < 35°C).

- Review clinical signs indicating possible infection (e.g., purulent discharge, erythema, swelling).
Specific Infection Categories
- Urinary Tract Infection: Check for dysuria, frequency, urgency, or flank pain.
- Respiratory Infection: Look for increased respiratory rate, wheezing, or productive cough.
- Skin Infection: Assess for new skin lesions, redness, or drainage.
- Gastrointestinal Infection: Monitor for diarrhea or vomiting.
- Sepsis: Identify hypotension, altered mental status, or organ dysfunction.
Laboratory and Diagnostic Tests
