General Items

Preparation
- Gather necessary tools (e.g., flashlight, otoscope, tongue depressor, gloves)
- Ensure a clean and private environment for assessment
- Explain the procedure to the patient and obtain consent
Inspection
- Inspect the head for symmetry, shape, and size
- Examine the scalp for lesions or abnormalities
- Inspect the face for asymmetry, skin condition, and any lesions
- Check the neck for symmetry, swelling, or masses
- Observe the throat and oral cavity for color, lesions, and swelling
Palpation
- Palpate the lymph nodes (cervical, supraclavicular, submandibular) for size and tenderness
- Assess the thyroid gland for enlargement or nodules
- Palpate the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) for tenderness or clicking
Auscultation
