AHA Infant CPR Skills Testing Checklist
Preparation
- Gather necessary materials (mannequin, AED trainer, etc.)
- Ensure a distraction-free environment for testing
- Review AHA Infant CPR guidelines before testing
Initial Assessment
- Check for responsiveness (tap and shout)
- Call for emergency help if unresponsive
- Position infant safely on a firm surface
Airway Management
- Open the airway using the head-tilt-chin-lift method
- Check for breathing for no more than 10 seconds
Rescue Breaths
- Give 2 gentle breaths (cover mouth and nose)
Chest Compressions
- Perform 30 chest compressions at a depth of 1.5 inches
- Use 2 fingers for compressions, at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute
- Allow full chest recoil after each compression
Continue the Cycle
- Repeat cycles of 30 compressions and 2 breaths
- Continue until help arrives or the infant shows signs of life
AED Use
- Turn on AED and follow voice prompts
- Attach pads correctly on the infant's chest
Post-Assessment Review
- Evaluate performance and areas for improvement
- Discuss any questions regarding infant CPR
