General Items
- Complete post-test evaluation.
- Provide feedback to participant.
- Ensure documentation of skills testing is completed.
Pre-Assessment Checks
- Confirm participant understands BLS course requirements.
- Ensure participant has necessary materials (manikin, AED, etc.).
- Verify participant's certification status.
Adult CPR Skills
- Check responsiveness of the victim.
- Call for emergency assistance or activate emergency response.
- Assess for breathing (no more than 10 seconds).
- Begin chest compressions (30 compressions at a rate of 100-120 per minute).
- Provide rescue breaths (2 breaths after 30 compressions).
- Continue CPR until help arrives or the victim shows signs of life.
Use of AED
- Retrieve AED and turn it on.
- Apply pads correctly on the victim's chest.
- Ensure no one is touching the victim while analyzing rhythm.
- Deliver shock if advised by the AED.
- Resume CPR immediately after shock delivery.
Choking Relief Techniques
- Assess for signs of choking.
- Administer back blows (5) to the victim.
- Administer abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver, 5).
- Continue until object is expelled or victim becomes unresponsive.
Special Considerations
- Know adjustments for infants and children.
- Review techniques for pregnant women.
- Consider special circumstances (e.g., drowning, trauma).
